Paramount Hotel: NY Architectural Landmark
We really hope this New York travel guide (kinda) helps you to find the best of the best hotel to stay during the Architectural Digest event. The Paramount Hotel is a 597-room boutique hotel in New York City’s Theater District, just half a block from Times Square.
It’s as recognized as its illustrious surroundings. Paramount fascinating history dates back to the 1920s. Built during the height of development in Times Square, this Midtown New York hotel is rich with history and interior lighting design. This building is a true New York’s architectural landmark and its interior is also to die for!
The sophisticated hotel design has a huge lobby with many relax zones using different colors and textiles, like having many spaces in only one space, creating different zones. The asymmetric suspension lamps with many Coltrane‘s from DelightFULL with different sizes and positions give that space a wonderful and original touch, turning the hotel lighting one of the best elements. Beautiful tones give the hotel a luxurious look and invite us to stay in this comfortable couches and chairs just appreciating the view. Do you still have any doubt about this place? Book your stay now and we promise you won’t get disappointed!
The Jane Hotel
This hotel has crazy lighting trends, which is not bad at all. The vintage vibe gives it the best feeling ever once you come in. Completed in 1908, the American Seaman’s Friend Society Sailors’ Home and Institute was designed by William A. Boring, the architect renowned for Ellis Island’s immigrant station. Originally built as a hotel for sailors with cabin-like rooms, the landmarked hotel design was lovingly restored on its centennial in 2008.
In 1912, the survivors of the Titanic stayed at the hotel until the end of the American Inquiry into the ship’s sinking. The surviving crew held a memorial service at the hotel four days after the ship sank. This is amazing, we’re pretty sure you didn’t know that and now you’re impressed. If you are into this style, you should take some notes and do a home design makeover. Just imagine your living room looking like a living room of a hotel design. PERFECT!
In 1944, the YMCA took over the hotel from the Seaman’s Relief Center, as the hotel was then called.
Fun fact about this hotel design: During the ‘80s and ‘90s, the hotel was part of downtown New York’s bohemian culture, hosting Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the Million Dollar Club, amongst many other rock-n-roll events. The hotel has continued to house guests with more dash than cash ever since.
As you can see, these are DelightFULL wall lamps, more specific, Simone. This lamps are a great interior lighting design for every house. Actually, this is one of the hotel’s hallway. See how good it looks? We, the lighting stores team, love it too!
