The designer made sure to state that “the appliance mounts nearly flush to the countertop and may function as a usable surface when not heated. A contiguous surface optimizes workspace and prevents an interruption to preparation areas.”
As opposing to having built a pantry closet, the designer decided to go with open shelving, which provides additional food storage by stretching the full horizontal width of the kitchen space. Open shelves stack vertically more efficiently than the confinements of a mounted upper cabinet, and also provide storage area for dinnerware, etc.

An additional eating are was added to the kitchen, creating the feeling of it being a family room, where the whole family can gather for a nice dinner. The white dining room setting ended up looking great in the nordic-inspired kitchen, giving it a sense of modernity and trendy casualness.
