Although jazz may be seen as just a music type, it can also be a way of design, curious? Today we will show the best lighting pieces to celebrate jazz day with the best designs while showing you the story behind each inspiration.

Declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2011, the purpose of this day was to “highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe.” The idea was born from jazz pianist and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock. Events in a Host City chosen previously culminate in an All-Star Global Concert, that involves over two-dozen jazz musicians from around the world performing at or around an historical landmark. Aretha Suspension
Our first piece to celebrate jazz day is inspired by one of the most acclaimed jazz singers of all time Aretha Franklin. She was an American singer, songwriter, actress, pianist, and civil rights activist. In 1987, she became the first female performer to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2010, the Rolling Stone magazine ranked her number one on its list of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”.
Our lighting piece is for that reason called Aretha Suspension and it is a contemporary home interiors reinterpretation of mid-century lighting design classics that were used back in the 50’s and 60’s. The piece body is handmade in brass and the bulb holders are made of aluminum.
Duke Floor
The second lighting piece of this list is inspired by the American composer, pianist, and leader of a jazz orchestra Duke Ellington. He wrote more than one thousand compositions, making his extensive body of work one of the largest recorded personal jazz legacy in the world. To honor this amazing bandleader and musician, was born Duke Floor, with a short silhouette and a single swing, Duke Floor Lamp is a retro-styled accessory for every single mid-century modern interior design.
Brubeck Wall Lamp
The next lighting piece is a tribute to whom is considered one of the foremost exponents of cool jazz, Dave Brubeck, an American jazz pianist and composer. His music is known for employing unusual time signatures as well as superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities. To honor this amazing woman, Etta Pendant was created with a nostalgic and feminine retro glow. With 20 different brass leaves, which are all hand shaped and assembled by skilled artisans. Our next jazz day inspiration is the famous American trumpeter and composer, Chris Botti, with one Grammy won in 2013 and various other nominations, Chris Botti has four of his albums that have reached the No. 1 position on the Billboard jazz albums chart. Mostly know for his trumpet, we had to honor him with his instrument, Botti 150 Suspension with a structure handmade in brass and a sophisticated gold-plated finish, is modern ceiling light that showcases a high-quality craftsmanship. Its unique shape and design make it the perfect hanging lamp to display on a mid-century modern interior design such as a living room, or a sophisticated hotel lobby.
Ella Wall Lamp
Ella Fitzgerald is one of the most known names related to jazz music, even sometimes referred to as the First Lady of Song, Queen of Jazz, and Lady Ella. She appeared in movies and as a guest on popular television shows in the second half of the twentieth century, while doing musical collaborations with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, besides maintaining a successful solo career with fourteen Grammy Awards. Miles Davis is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th-century music. The American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer adopted a variety of musical directions in a fifty year career that kept him at the forefront of many major stylistic developments in jazz. Miles Table Lamp is a classic mid-century modern interior design table lamp, which brings back the sophisticated atmosphere of Mile Davis 50’s. Coltrane Suspension
Another Suspension Lamp, this one inspired by John Coltrane, an American jazz saxophonist and composer, he helped pioneer the use of modes (a type of musical scale coupled with a set of characteristic melodic behaviors) and was at the forefront of free jazz.
